Millie’s Therapies

Camilla is fortunate to get different therapies both at school and outside of school which consist of Physical Therapy, Hippotherapy, Speech Therapy and Occupational Therapy. Millie has been getting one or more of these therapies since she was 6 months old and over the years has taken little reset breaks. By recommendation from her therapists she has taken some steps away to allow her body to rest and her mind to sort of catch up to all the new things that it is learning. There has never been a regression and her therapists have always been in touch if needed. At first we were nervous for these breaks but they presented it like this…think about how much it helps your body to take a break from working out or giving your brain a little rest to recharge itself. The exercises she does in her therapies carry over to home…even if it means sneaking them in during meals or playtime.

Each session for all her therapies looks different, she might be working on the same goals over time but no two sessions are the same. Previously I tried to keep up each week with her sessions. But I decided to instead give some high level general information about what each type of therapy might focus on and then specifically what Millie is working on for her goals. For the sake of not scrolling down for ages I am putting the therapies onto another page…that page is currently underway and will be live soon.

If/when Millie does any therapies or treatments outside her weekly schedule I will make sure to update here and depending dive more into detail in a post. Camilla did an intensive therapy session last fall and it was so interesting and productive…she is scheduled to return to Beelieveabilty this summer. To learn more about what an intensive is and what Millie did during her week check out this post all about DMI Intensive Therapy Session.
